Happy Independence Day, Everyone!!! Hope ya'll are enjoying it! Remember this is the day when the Declaration of Independence was signed back in 1776. If not for it we wouldn't have freedom from England or any rights.

Hamburger buns, sandwhich buns, or hot dog buns
I made these ahead of time then froze them until a day or two ahead of when I would need them while Michael and his Mom were here. We used some for the home made sloppy joes and used the rest for the grilled hamburger patties. Michael put the hamburger buns on the grill for a few minutes and when I tasted one it was so good. A lot better than warming them up in the oven. I had never had them on the grill before until his Mom asked me if I wanted him to do that. I had never heard of such a thing, but for now, on that is what I will do is put any kind of hamburger bun or hot dog bun on the grill for a couple minutes.
Ingredients
* 6 cups flour
* 1 tablespoon salt
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 2 cups water (warm)
* 1 tablespoon yeast
* 2 eggs, well beaten
* 1 cup oil
Directions
1. Dissolve yeast in water with a pinch of sugar.
2. Mix in with other ingredients.
3.Knead for 10 minutes on a floured surface.
4. Let rise until doubled in bulk (about 45 minutes).
5. Punch down and let rise again.
6. Punch down and form into bun shapes (hamburger or hot dog).
7. Make them on the small side as they do raise a little more when you bake them.
8. Let rise until double.
9.Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
10.Let cool until just warm to the touch; place in a sealed bag to soften crust.
11. Makes 16-20 hamburger rolls.
12. NOTE: You can cut this in half.
13.Double wrap and freeze any remaining ones.

5 DAYS!
ello, everyone! Hope all is well with you all. This last week Michael and his Mom came to visit. They arrived Wednesday afternoon and left Sunday evening. We had so much fun. Michael and I picked on each other:). We went to church Wednesday night, on Thursday we all (my Dad, Michael, his Mom, and my Aunt)went to the tearoom then we went to Sheplers Western Wear. Michael had wanted to get some boots and a hat. He looks great in them both! Later on we went to Bass Pro. Friday we went to the zoo and took lots of pictures and went for ice cream later after Michael and I made home made potato soup. Then on Saturday we went to the 45th Infantry then after wards we stopped by Coits to have some sweet potato fries and fried okra. Michael had never had sweet potato fries and him and his Mom had never had okra. I had to remember that fried okra is usually a southern thing. Then we went back to David's apartment where they were staying and Michael helped me make home made pizza. We watched The Return of the Daughters together. Sunday after church Michael grilled burgers and hot dogs. They were good!
Oh, back to Saturday night. After we had finished eating the pizza and home made bread sticks I had went to the kitchen to clean up, but Michael's Mom said that Michael wanted me to sit down and rest and taht she would help clean up. So, I sat down and Michael came out with a cute tote bag that his=m and his mom got for me and it was filled with yarn to knit with and knitting things plus a pattern for embroidering and material to go with it. How sweet of them. She showed me how to knit, too.
I must say that he is wonderful, sweet, caring, funny, loving(even if we won't say those words till the engagement/betrothal)and such a gentleman!
I had a wonderful time with him and his Mom! I miss him so much and don't like being away from him!We are praying and hoping to visit them later this year.I had such a hard time not bawling at the airport. I cried a little but someone said something funny I think and then I laughed instead. My Dad kept trying to take my mind off of missing Michael as we were leaving to go to the van after they went through the line.
I don't deserve such a wonderful man, but God is sooo gracious and wonderful!
Here are some pics:

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Old-Fashioned Biscuits (as shown on Clabber Girl can)
Ingredients:
* 2 cups all-purpose flour (I used self rising flour)
* 2 1/2 teaspoons Clabber Girl Baking Powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/3 cup shortening(I used oil or liquid shortening if that's what ya wanna call it)
* 3/4 cup milk
* 1 tablespoon soft margarine or butter
Instructions:
In a medium mixing bowl stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the milk all at once. Using a fork, stir just till moistened and dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl (dough will be sticky).
On a floured surface, lightly knead dough with floured hands for 30 seconds or till nearly smooth. Lightly roll dough to 3/4-inch thickness. Cut dough with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, dipping cutter into flour between cuts.
Place biscuits close together on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush tops with soft margarine. Bake in a 475° oven for 11 to 15 minutes or till golden brown. Serve warm.

Sweet Potato Biscuits from Cooking Light
Cutting in the butter makes for flaky, delicate biscuits. Be sure to stop cutting in the butter while there are still pebble-sized pieces. If you work it longer, the biscuits will be tough.
Yield
16 servings (serving size: 1 biscuit)
Ingredients
* 2 cups all-purpose flour (about 9 ounces)
* 1 tablespoon sugar
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 5 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
* 1 cup pureed cooked sweet potatoes, cooled
* 1/3 cup fat-free milk
* Cooking spray
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400°.
Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine sweet potato and milk in a small bowl; add potato mixture to flour mixture, stirring just until moist.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead lightly 5 times. Roll dough to a 3/4-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter into 10 biscuits. Place biscuits on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Gather remaining dough. Roll to a 3/4-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter into 6 biscuits. Place the biscuits on prepared baking sheet. Discard any remaining scraps.
Bake at 400° for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from pan; cool 5 minutes on wire racks. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Hello! I know it's been quite awhile since I have written anything. Hope everyone is doing well. I have been trying not to be on the internet too much because I don't think it's wise to be and plus, I ought to be wise with my time and I don't want to be the kind of wife who is online all day when I get married in the future. I don't need to know the gossip and need to always make sure I am getting things done around the house. And I have gotten back to reading a book that has taken me forever to read through. I always try to make sure and read 6 chapters a day in the Bible which sometimes ends up with being 5 if something comes up and I have to rush around. I also, like to try and spend an hour in prayer. I get up around 5 or 5:30 normally to get everything ready for my Dad to take to work. Someday, when I get married I wanna get up early and make my husband breakfast before he has to leave for work. It has always bothered me for some reason when a wife doesn't do that unless she's sick or something. I am not sure why it bothers me so. But, back to what I was saying about being online all the time. I have been weaning myself from it because when I do get married I want to try to have all the cleaning done before my husband gets home and I do not wanna be online when he does get home. I wanna spend time with my husband as much as possible not saying that we can't spend time with friends but that I wanna spend time with him when he gets home.
So, anyways, I have wonderful news which I haven't told anyone on here except maybe a few, but I have been talking to a wonderful, godly man, and leader. His name is Michael. My friend Mrs. L had told him about me and he got in contact with me online and we talked that way while him and my Dad talked on the phone. We met January 2, 2009. We started talking on the phone February 28, 2009. Within the first week God showed me that Michael is the one I am to marry. My Dad and brother really like Michael a lot. We have "argued" over who gets to talk to him. *SMILES* Michael believes a lot like I do. He is for me wearing skirts and dresses all the time. He loves that I dress the way i do and that my hair is long. He wants me to be at home and he be the "bread winner." He's more than I thought God would give me. I had wanted a man that plays guitar and he does. He's funny, has brown hair (which I had wanted), has blue eyes, nice big hands, taller than me ( a must), likes camping, fishing, quading, hunting, etc. We have similar interests for sure. God has really been so good! Michael and his Mom are coming to visit in June. I am pretty excited about it! I get to cook for him and he can't wait to eat my food! Oh, and guess what? The Lord has called him to preach and I had prayed to marry a preacher, a man after God's own heart! Prayers do get answered!:)
Don't give up you who are unmarried! God has the perfect one for you even if he isn't perfect he will be the one God says is for you! Pray for your future husband to be a good leader because it's real important how he will lead your family. Otherwise he is accountable for what he does and doesn't do. It's always good to pray for your future husband.
Hope everyone has a truly beautiful day! God bless!
